The Gold Coasts Strongest Man and Woman - Rules
Rules:
- All competitors to wear the Harris Stability Systems singlet provided to them for all events. The only event where it will be allowed to not wear it is the Atlas Stones. Competitors may wear a t-shirt under the singlet.
- Be respectful for the loaders and judges
- If you believe there is a problem with current proceedings on the day, please bring it to the attention of Coco or Chad.
- If the competitor has any physical issues to would not allow them to complete an event to the exact rules as outlined below, it must be brought to the attention of the judges before hand, not after. EG: if you have broken a leg in the past and have trouble locking your knees out in the deadlift.
Apollons Axle Overhead:
- Competitors to start with their hands on the implement, implement in full contact with the ground
- Competitor will have 60 seconds to complete as many repetitions as possible from ground to locked out overhead
- Axle must be controlled back to the ground. (No Throwing of the implement).
- Any dropped lift will result in a failed lift and the rep will not count.
- If no complete reps are counted, the competitor will scores no points for the event.
- If the competitor successfully locks out a rep just before the buzzer but then drops the implement in an uncontrolled way, the rep will not count.
- Belts are allowed, an under belt and an over belt is allowed. Two belts, one above the other on the torso (equivalent to a stepped setup), is not allowed. A loop in the belt is not allowed.
- The lifter is allowed to rest the implement on the belt and use the belt as a part of the clean if they choose.
- chalk is allowed
- tacky is not allowed
- wraps and sleeves are allowed, including “equipped” elbow sleeves
Maximum Axle Deadlift - Harris Deadlift Challenge:
- No Sumo stance allowed. Hands must be outside the knees for the lift.
- Straps allowed, figure 8 straps also allowed.
- Deadlift suits are allowed.
- No Tacky allowed.
- Each competitor has 3 attempts.
- competitor nominates their opening attempt at the beginning of the individual event.
- Competitor can not drop their nominated weight after a failed attempt or a completed attempt.
- weights to increase by denominations of 2.5kg minimum.
- No “Eddie Halls” allowed, weight must be controlled to the ground for the lift to count.
- 60 seconds to complete the lift after the whistle blows. Lifter can continue to lift until the full 60 seconds are up.
- No points awarded if no complete lifts are counted
- Lift is completed when the judge calls “down”. To receive the “down” call, the lifter must have knees, hips and shoulders locked out.
- Competitor may change their first lift, once only, up to 5 minutes out from the start of the event, not after.
- Competitor to nominate their second lift weight immediately after completion of their first lift
- Competitor may change their second lift weight, once only, But it can not be lesser than the weight that is currently on the bar.
- Competitor to nominate their third lift weight immediately after completion of their second lift
- Competitor may change their third lift weight, twice only, but it can not be lesser than the weight that is currently on the bar.
- Competitors opening lift must be at the minimum set weights or above for that class
- chalk is allowed
- If the competitor fails to make any lifts, they will score zero points for the event.
- To win the Harris Deadlift Challenge Prize money, you must make the allotted weights for your group. Women’s 220kgs, Men’s 400kgs. The prize money is available for anyone that makes the lifts.
- If no one makes the lifts, the prize money doubles and is available at the next Harris Deadlift Challenge. Eg: No man lifts 400kgs, next event the prize money will be $800.
- If two people make the 400kg lift at the next comp, only one person can win the jackpot. To win the jackpot, there will be a “lift-off” where competitors are to increase the bar weight by 10 kilograms at a time until a clear winner is identified.
Atlas Stones:
- No chalk allowed on the stones
- tacky is allowed
- competitor is to start with wrists on the yoke crossbar
- time will be 60 seconds from when whistle is blown. Competitor has to have let go of the stone after it has crossed the bar for the rep to count.
- Competitor can not use the yoke for leverage. Can not hold the yoke to push the stone over with their body.
- Competitor must complete one full rep to score any points
Farmers Walk :
- 60 seconds to complete the event
- Competitor to start with their hands on the handles of the implements with the implements in complete contact with the ground
- unlimited drops are allowed in the time allotted
- Both farmers implements have to be completely across the line before the timer will stop
- Entrants to be scored on the fastest time to complete the course. If the course is not completed then the distance is measured from back of the rearmost implement to the start line.
- Both implements must be totally across the start line to score any points
- no straps allowed, no tacky allowed
- sleeves and wraps are allowed
Conans Wheel :
- Competitors to carry the wheel arm in an anti-clockwise direction only
- Competitor to start with arms against the bar before the judge will call to start, weight can not be lifted from the ground before the start call is given
- No drops are allowed
- Implement must move 1 metre past pickup point to score any points
- wheel will be set out in quadrants, so scores will be based on 1/4’s of a circle. eg: 3 1/4 turns or 2 1/2 turns. If two people finish on 2 1/2 turns, they will score the same amount of points.
- If the competitor picks up the implement and immediately falls backwards or straight down, they will be allowed to try one more time. If they weight moves forwards at all, that will be their scoring movement.
- No slings allowed or any implement that could be used to hold the arm
- No loops allowed in belts. If this is tried, it will be concidered bad sportsmanship and the competitor will score zero points.
Judges Decision is final.
