Nutrition Warehouse - Car Deadlift Demonstration
[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]With thanks to Nutrition Warehouse for their support for not just the prizes for the upcoming Gold Coasts Strongest Man and Woman for 2015, they also provided us with an opportunity to showcase our sport to regular retail shoppers near to Nutrition Warehouse Ashmore and their clients.
Coco’s Gym has regular Saturday morning group training that see between 15 and 20 people turn up to learn and practice on the unique Strongman style equipment that is offered at this strength oriented gym. This day (4th July 2015) we also added in a car deadlift demonstration using the Nutrition Warehouse commodore wagon (1.8tonnes approximately). The frame was borrowed from the generous team at Queensland Strongman Promotions, the crew behind the Queensland Strongman series, the core of Strongman sports in Queensland.
On this day the commodore proved almost too much for everyone, most having deadlifted a Toyota Camry or a Toyota Corolla in the past (all much ligher than a Commodore Wagon by over 400 kilograms). With the commodore proving to be such a large dead weight, the first person to lift it at the lightest setting on the frame was big Lesley Daniel, The Warrior by Nature who, once he managed to move it, then pulled out two reps.
The rest of the crew that had a go, Simon, Jason, Sam, Oskar, Ben, Mr Sippy Cup (The Nutrition Warehouse Mascot) and Chad (me) all not managing to lock it out so the guess at the handle weight at lockout being somewhere around 300kgs.

Big Lesley Daniel had his second go and this was when he also pulled out his set of two reps. After doing this we adjusted the car deadlift frame to a shorter (less leverage) setting to put the handles at about 350kgs in weight at lockout. Coco then managed to finish with 5 reps at this weight as well.
