The Gold Coast’s Strongest Man and Woman 2015

The 2015 Gold Coast’s Strongest Man and Woman will be held at the Quality Hotel Mermaid Waters on July 19th.

The Gold Coast’s Strongest Man and Woman is being put on to supplement the fantastic efforts by QLD Strongman with their novice competitions and to offer a heavier event for competitors to test themselves out on to help in preparation for higher level events around the country and internationally.

The event will be held in the carpark at the front of the Quality Hotel Mermaid Waters so the competition surface will be bitumen. The venue also has accommodation and the Lonestar Tavern with meals starting from as little as $12. It is also only 2 minutes drive from Pacific Fair, 5 minutes drive from Broadbeach and 12 minutes drive from the middle of Surfers Paradise.

If you want to bring your own small marquee (3 by 3 metres)for cover, there will be space for you to set up nearby.

There is space set aside for sponsors and companies that support the sport of strongman to set up their own tables and small marquee’s to show off and sell their products on the day.

Several more companies have expressed interest at this time and more information will be available shortly.

Divisions:
Womens: Under 63.5kgs and over 63.5kgs
Mens: under 84kgs, under 105kgs and over 105kgs
- As per our previous event, The Gold Coast Strongman Challenge, if competitor numbers are high enough in different weight categories we are open creating more classes for the Gold Coast’s Strongest Man and Woman.

Competitors:
- Competitors are welcome from all cities, states and regions of Australia and internationally. The winner will still be known as the Gold Coast’s Strongest regardless of where they are from until the competition runs again in 2016.

Weighing in:
- Open Women (Over 63.5kgs) and Open Men (Over 105kgs) will not need to weigh in prior to the event.
- Under 63.5kg women, under 84kg men and under 105kg men will all need to weigh in before 9:30am on the day of the event.
- 24 hour weigh in is available at Coco’s Gym from 8:00am to 2:00pm on Saturday the 18th of July.

Opportunities:
- Singapore Strongman Series Finals - Our good friend Taufiq Strongman has offered a place to anyone who places first in their division at the Singapore Strongman Series in Singapore later this year. Note: there is only one womens division in the Singapore Series. This is entrance fee’s only, not the cost of flights, accommodation, passports associated with visiting Singapore to compete.

Equipment:
Coco’s Gym and Strongman Gold Coast will be supplying the equipment for the events at the show. If you would like the opportunity to use the equipment before the show, casual memberships are available at the gym and day visits. Weekly memberships are available for only $15 per week. The best way to use the equipment is to come to group training on Wednesday nights and Saturday mornings for only $10 (free for members).

- Farmers Walk - 40 metres one way - 60kgs per hand
- Conans Wheel - 60 seconds, no drops - 60kgs on the bar
- Max Axle Deadlift - Suits/ Straps (Figure 8’s also) allowed - 100kgs minimum
- Apollons Axle (Fixed Wheel overhead press event) - 50kgs
- Atlas Stone over 1.2 metre bar, 62kgs, 15 inch diameter

Open Womens
- Farmers Walk - 40 metres one way - 75kgs per hand
- Conans Wheel - 60 seconds, no drops - 80kgs on the bar
- Max Axle Deadlift - Suits/ Straps (Figure 8’s also) allowed - 140kgs minimum
- Apollons Axle (Fixed Wheel overhead press event) - 70kgs
- Atlas Stone over 1.2 metre bar, 87kgs, 17 inch diameter

Mens under 84kgs
- Farmers Walk - 40 metres one way - 105kgs per hand
- Conans Wheel - 60 seconds, no drops - 160kgs on the bar
- Max Axle Deadlift - Suits/ Straps (Figure 8’s also) allowed - 200kgs minimum
- Apollons Axle (Fixed Wheel overhead press event) - 90kgs
- Atlas Stone over 1.2 metre bar, 115kgs, 18 inch diameter

Mens under 105kgs
- Farmers Walk - 40 metres one way - 125kgs per hand
- Conans Wheel - 60 seconds, no drops - 200kgs on the bar
- Max Axle Deadlift - Suits/ Straps (Figure 8’s also) allowed - 220kgs minimum
- Apollons Axle (Fixed Wheel overhead press event) - 105kgs
- Atlas Stone over 1.2 metre bar, 132kgs, 20 inch diameter

Open Mens
- Farmers Walk - 40 metres one way - 145kgs
- Conans Wheel - 60 seconds, no drops - 240kgs on the bar
- Max Axle Deadlift - Suits/ Straps (Figure 8’s also) allowed - 260kgs minimum
- Apollons Axle (Fixed Wheel overhead press event) - 130kgs
- Atlas Stone over 1.2 metre bar, 157kgs, 21 inch diameter

Prizes:
$400 for any man that lifts 400kgs in the Max Axle Deadlft Challenge
$220 for any woman that lifts 220kgs in the Max Axle Deadlift Challenge

Volunteers:
- Judges and loaders will be required on the day, please get in touch with us if you are keen to help out. You will be supplied with a shirt, drinks and a meal as well.
- MC - Are you good with a microphone? We require a host to do the talking duties on the day. Notes will be supplied, Strongman knowledge a bonus but not necessary.

Photography:
- Cynthia Hein Photography will be back again this year to photograph the event. Photo’s will be made available for free within 7 days of the event.
